Protest at Grand Central Terminal
On a recent Saturday afternoon, hundreds of anti-Israel protesters attempted to take over Grand Central Terminal in New York City after demonstrating outside City Hall.
This gathering was part of an event organized by a group focused on raising awareness. Reports indicate that participants marched through Manhattan before arriving at the terminal. However, police had already locked and barricaded the entrance. Consequently, four individuals were arrested, with two facing charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Videos that circulated online captured scenes of protesters inside the terminal, brandishing signs, waving flags, and chanting slogans like, “Free, free, free Palestine!”
Additionally, reports noted a confrontation between protesters and the NYPD, with officers using batons to push crowds back. Some footage showed officers trying to maintain order amidst the chaos.
In one clip, tensions were evident when certain protesters appeared to block a fellow demonstrator at a revolving door, causing confusion.
While train services reportedly continued uninterrupted, police maintained a strong presence at the scene for several hours following the disruption.
This protest was just one of many that had taken place recently in Manhattan, organized by various left-wing groups advocating for Palestinian rights. Earlier events included demonstrations centering around anti-Israel sentiments, and some activists provided instructions on evading law enforcement surveillance in preparation for these protests.
During a previous gathering at Columbia University, anti-Israel activists marked the anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attacks on Israel, with some participants using language typically associated with terrorist groups, raising further concerns about the rhetoric being used.
