Rod Stewart Faces Criticism Over AI Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne
Rod Stewart has been in the spotlight recently, drawing criticism after presenting an AI-created tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during his farewell tour.
Following Osbourne’s passing on July 22nd, the 80-year-old Stewart dedicated his iconic song “Forever Young” to the deceased rock star at a concert. However, his latest tribute, which featured AI-generated visuals of Osbourne alongside other legendary musicians like Michael Jackson, Prince, and Tina Turner, has sparked mixed reactions online. Some individuals labeled the gesture as “sticky” and “embarrassing.”
Yet, there are those who came to Stewart’s support. One fan expressed, “If this is Rod’s way of showing respect, everyone has their own way to honor those who’ve passed.” Others shared sentiments like, “I think it’s pretty cool,” highlighting the divide in opinions.
During a recent performance in Charlotte, North Carolina, Stewart acknowledged the tragic reality of many artists losing their lives to substance-related issues, saying, “It’s very sad… I’m still here!”
Stewart had also paid a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on the day of Osbourne’s death, simply stating, “Goodbye, goodbye.”
A memorial for Osbourne was held a day after his passing in Birmingham, where friends and family gathered to pay their respects. The iconic musician passed away at 76 and was laid to rest in the grounds of his mansion in Buckinghamshire, England. Reports indicate that he wished for a burial near a lake on his property, with a tribute spelled out on the lakeshore.
The ceremony saw the participation of several notable figures from the music industry, including Zakk Wylde, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson, along with other celebrities like James Hetfield and Elton John.
As a touching farewell, thousands participated in a procession honoring Osbourne, culminating at the Black Sabbath Bridge and a commemorative bench. Family members, including Sharon Osbourne with their children, were visibly emotional during this tribute.
Reflecting on his wishes for his own funeral in a past interview, Osbourne mentioned a desire for it to be more of a celebration rather than a sorrowful affair. He humorously suggested incorporating light-hearted elements to ensure it was a fitting tribute to his life.
It’s clear that the feelings surrounding Osbourne’s legacy will continue to spark varying opinions and resonate deeply with fans and fellow musicians alike.
