Christie Brinkley and Daughter Sailor Share Dating Experience

Christie Brinkley, at 71, and her daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook, who’s 27, attracted the same guy, despite their 44-year age gap.

Brinkley recently shared an interesting story about how her daughter once put her on a dating app for just an hour, without really consulting her first. This snippet came to light during her chat with Kristin Davis on the podcast “Are you Charlotte?” Davis noted a striking difference in how men and women over 50 navigate dating. Many accomplished women, she said, struggle to find partners their own age, as men often avoid dating them.

Brinkley reflected on this peculiar “experiment” initiated by Sailor. She was curious to see what kind of man would match with her, and though the app remains unnamed, Brinkley humorously noted her daughter’s insight. “Mama, you’re right not to continue doing it,” is what Sailor told her about the experience.

Davis expressed her surprise and delight at this revelation. Brinkley, who currently isn’t using any dating apps, seemed to appreciate the lightheartedness of the situation.

Brinkley has three children: Jack, 30, and Alexa, 39, whom she shares with her ex-husband Billy Joel, and Sailor, with her ex-husband Peter Cook. Her marriage history includes four unions; she was with Joel from 1973 to 1981, then again from 1985 to 1994, followed by Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995, and Cook from 1996 to 2008.

In her memoir, “Uptown Girl,” Brinkley candidly recalls the heartbreak of discovering Cook’s infidelity. She reflects on the moment when a police officer mentioned her husband’s inappropriate relationship with a young woman, describing how devastating that news was. “Your whole world falls apart in a heartbeat,” she wrote, capturing that feeling of betrayal experienced by many women in similar situations. Brinkley and Cook ended their ten-year marriage after those revelations.
