Chedur Sanders Discusses Fatherhood and Training Camp

Chedur Sanders isn’t quite prepared for his Hall of Fame dad, Dion Sanders, to visit the Cleveland Browns’ training camp. After experiencing some arm pain on Saturday, the rookie quarterback talked to the media on Monday and explained his feelings about his father’s potential visit.

Surprisingly, Coach Dion Sanders hasn’t made an appearance at the training camp yet. Chedur expressed, “I don’t want him to come see me right now; I’d prefer to go wherever I want for him to see me.” He elaborated, noting he would like to avoid drawing extra attention from his father’s presence. “He’s a great supporter, but I just want to focus,” he said.

For Chedur, having a legendary father is both a blessing and a challenge. “People see my dad shows up, and, well, it puts the spotlight on me. It’s a double-edged sword,” he shared, illustrating the complex feelings that come with his situation.

As for his position, Sanders currently sits as the fourth string quarterback on the Browns’ roster, with no snaps yet on the first team. He does, however, get a chance to practice against first-team defenses during drills with the second and third teams. Chedur is hoping that he gets a chance to showcase his abilities in the upcoming preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

He added, “Honestly, I’m okay with whatever lineup goes out. It can be two or three players; I just want to be in the game, regardless.” His laid-back attitude seems to reflect a balance between ambition and a desire for organic progression.
