DOJ Investigation into Former Obama Officials
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reportedly begun a federal investigation into several former officials from the Obama administration. The inquiry focuses on allegations that they conspired to advance the false Trump-Russia narrative during the 2016 election.
Potential criminal charges could be on the table for some former cabinet members, including James Clapper, who was the Director of National Intelligence, John Brennan, a former CIA Director, and James Comey, who served as the former FBI Director.
In July, National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard claimed that various documents indicated former President Barack Obama collaborated with the Intelligence Reporting Agency, wrongly linking Donald Trump’s election to Russia.
“In 2016, there was a rather unsettling conspiracy among officials at the highest levels of government,” Gabbard stated.
She accused them of attempting to undermine the will of the American people, suggesting it was akin to a long-term coup.
Gabbard further criticized the Obama administration, claiming there was a “terrible abuse of power” that threatened the very foundations of the Democratic Republic. She alleged that Obama and members of his security cabinet created an intelligence agency that politicized information by falsely asserting that Russia had influenced the 2016 election in favor of Trump over Hillary Clinton.
According to reports, the investigations might meet significant legal challenges regarding certain restrictions.
Additionally, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson mentioned that Congress could potentially summon former President Obama in light of these allegations. He expressed a commitment to uncover the truth, stating the need to avoid the partisan tactics that he believes characterized prior investigations.
