Hunter Biden Takes New Role in Homeless Prevention

Hunter Biden has announced that he’s begun a new job with a nonprofit focused on preventing homelessness and advocating for tenant rights in southern Los Angeles. He shared this news during an interview with Channel 5 podcaster Andrew Callahan, which was released on YouTube on Tuesday.

“I believe I have an opportunity to serve,” Biden expressed—though not in an overly dramatic way, he clarified. He emphasized that he is just someone working alongside many others who are also committed to the cause.

Currently, he is the development director for an organization called Busta, which leads homelessness prevention efforts in southern California. “We’re focused on keeping people from being evicted,” he explained. Interestingly, he mentioned that the organization doesn’t receive federal funding since, well, it isn’t documented in Southern California.

Biden also spoke about the hardships faced by immigrants—whether from Ukraine or elsewhere—highlighting the challenges they encounter when trying to find work due to fears of legal repercussions, like workplace raids. “It’s tough because employers worry about disruptions to their business,” he noted, reflecting on these complex issues.

According to Biden, many of those affected are families and children. He highlighted that losing a home has a severe ripple effect, complicating the path back to stability. “It’s exponentially harder for children to regain normalcy once they’ve experienced homelessness,” he remarked.

Busta, founded in 2005, claims to be the most comprehensive tenant rights organization in the region. They have a substantial team—over 15 attorneys and 10 staff members in multiple offices—dedicated to addressing the varied needs of tenants.

In his comments, Biden noted that Busta employs a unique approach to defending eviction cases, submitting them under California’s constitution, which allows community members rather than a single judge to assess these situations.

Overall, while Biden’s new role may seem like a step in a different direction, it reflects a deeper commitment to addressing pressing societal issues, something that resonates with many as they face similar challenges.
