First Lady Invites Volunteers for Christmas Decor at the White House

First Lady Melania Trump is reaching out to volunteers to assist with decorations and performances at the White House this holiday season.

On Monday, her office issued a statement announcing the opening of applications for individuals eager to “help people celebrate the holiday season at People’s House.” The invitation is open to Americans from all states and territories, provided they are over 18.

Volunteer decorators can join the team starting from November 24 through November 30, working daily from 6 AM to 5 PM.

In addition, Melania Trump’s office is calling for performances from choirs and bands. Groups interested in showcasing their talent can apply to perform during the White House Holiday Open House events throughout December.

The press release contained links for further details about the applications for both decorators and performers.

During President Donald Trump’s first term, Melania gained attention for her holiday decorations, which received a variety of reviews. While her 2017 theme of “old tradition” drew praise for being “simply magic,” some found her red trees in the East Corridor unsettling.

Despite the mixed responses, President Trump defended his wife’s decorations. He remarked in 2021, during a speech in Texas, “She’ll make the most beautiful Christmas decorations.” He recalled how the media criticized the red trees, suggesting they try white ones next, and found that they weren’t pleased with those either.

After Trump’s presidential win in 2024, many online expressed eagerness to see Melania’s decorations again. Those interested in being part of the holiday spirit might consider applying to volunteer as decorators.
