NFL Rookies Receive Surprising Messages from Legends

Before they become the stars of the NFL, all those legendary players were once rookies just like the current incoming class. The 2025 NFL rookies are gearing up for their first real shot at making a mark on the league, and, amusingly enough, some legends have stepped in to share heartwarming messages.

This year’s rookie class experienced some unexpected moments that really stirred up strong emotions.

Icons such as Tom Brady, Barry Sanders, Joe Montana, Peyton and Eli Manning, Tim Brown, and Jerry Rice created surprise videos for top rookies in the draft class. One memorable instance involved the Tennessee Titans’ first pick, quarterback Cam Ward, who got quite a surprise when Brady appeared on screen to offer some encouraging words.

“You’re going to grow in ways you can’t even imagine. I’m watching, and I’m always rooting for you,” Brady told Ward.

Ward’s reaction was plain: “I’m obsessed with the greatest player ever sending me such a video.” It’s hard to blame him; that kind of surprise is quite a thrill!

Brady didn’t stop there. He also reached out to New England Patriots receiver Kyle Williams, who was visibly moved when he discovered a signed jersey from Brady under his seat, much like Ward’s experience.

Every rookie received personalized videos and jerseys from legends associated with their teams or current players in similar positions. For example, Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nakua had a conversation with Carolina Panthers receiver Tetaro Amakumillan, while Rice shared some motivational thoughts with Jacksonville Jaguars standout, Travis Hunter. “I wasn’t the most talented player, but I had a strong work ethic. I didn’t let anyone push me away,” Rice advised Hunter.

Dallas Cowboys’ star rookie, Mika Parsons, even had something to share with New York Giants’ rookie Abdul Carter, pointing out, “You became a top five pick—congratulations.” Sometimes friendly rivalry can push players to elevate their game.

After hearing encouraging words from Eddie George, Carter’s new teammate, Cam Scottebo, found himself in tears. Such moments really encapsulate the mix of excitement and pressure that comes with starting in the NFL.

As these rookies immerse themselves in training camp, they seem eager to absorb all the advice and wisdom shared by their precursors, hoping to follow in the steps of the legends who paved the way.
