Two 15-year-olds taken into custody related to the assault on DOGE staff member ‘Big Balls’ in DC

Two 15-year-olds arrested in connection with DOGE staffer 'Big Balls' beating in DC

Two teenagers have been arrested in relation to an attempted carjacking involving a former government employee known as “big ball.” Authorities reported that a 15-year-old suspect, charged with unarmed carjacking, approached Edward Coristine, who was with a female officer identified as his significant other. This incident occurred at around 3 a.m. in the Logan Circle area of Washington, D.C.

According to police, the group made comments about getting into the vehicle before Coristine moved to shield his companions inside the car. Coristine, a 19-year-old software engineer, found himself facing multiple attackers until law enforcement intervened. Upon their arrival, the suspects fled the scene on foot.

Coristine is notably recognized for his involvement in President Trump’s efforts to streamline government spending through his association with the DOGE initiative. Following the incident, tech billionaire Elon Musk, who had served as DOGE’s chief advisor until last May, addressed the attack in a post on his platform X.

Musk shared, “A few days ago, a gang of about 12 young men tried to assault a woman in a car at night in D.C. The members of the @Doge team saw what was going on, ran to protect her and were beaten badly to the point of a concussion, but he saved her.”

This incident sparked renewed discussions around crime in the capital. In response, Trump called for changes in legislation to enable prosecutors to charge teenagers over 14 as adults, advocating for stricter sentences. He shared a graphic image of a bloodied former employee, not named Coristine, along with a lengthy statement criticizing the rise in violent crimes in Washington.

Trump has been vocal about his concerns, stating, “They know nothing will happen to them, so they’re not afraid of law enforcement, but that’s going to change now! D.C. laws need to be updated to prosecute these ‘minors’ as adults and ensure they are locked up for a long time starting from age 14. The latest victim was mercilessly beaten by local thugs.” He emphasized that Washington, D.C., must be safe and appealing for all Americans and visitors worldwide.

Interestingly, data indicates that crime rates in D.C. have hit a 30-year low, showing a 35% decrease compared to the previous year. Moreover, reports for 2025 suggest that violent crime has continued to decline relative to the previous year.
