Active Shooter Incident at Fort Stewart, Georgia

At least five injuries have been reported following an active shooter situation at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The base was briefly placed on lockdown as authorities responded to the incident. As of now, details remain unclear, and no official confirmation of fatalities has been provided. President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation, and the lockdown has since been lifted.

Lt. Col. Angel Tomco from the Stewart Police Station confirmed the report of the active shooter. Meanwhile, the official Facebook page for Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield noted, “A casualty has been reported and the situation is ongoing.”

“The installation was locked up at 11:04 AM, and law enforcement was present,” the social media post stated.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed his sorrow regarding the event, stating, “We are saddened by today’s tragedy at Stewart. We are in close contact with law enforcement agencies on the ground.”

Currently, Fort Stewart remains in lockdown. News reports indicate that there may be more than one active shooter involved, hinting at “two separate events” based on scanner traffic. This base houses the 3rd Infantry Division and supports over 10,000 military personnel, their families, and civilian employees.
