Carolina Panthers Cornerback Involved in Car Accident
Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was in a car accident on Wednesday while heading to the stadium. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed that Horn needed some stitches as a result of the incident.
The 25-year-old player was reportedly alone in his vehicle when the accident occurred at an intersection near the stadium, according to a team spokesman. Fortunately, neither Horn nor anyone else involved in the crash required transport by emergency medical services. After the accident, Horn was evaluated by the team’s medical staff.
Canales shared that Horn received stitches on his left thumb. “I’m relieved to say that Jaycee is fine,” he remarked. The coach noted that Horn wouldn’t be participating in the team’s joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and also confirmed he would miss the upcoming preseason game against them on Friday.
Canales expressed hope that Horn would be ready to play in the Panthers’ second preseason game against the Houston Texans on August 16th. “We’re looking forward to utilizing him in Houston,” he mentioned cautiously.
After being drafted eighth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft out of South Carolina, Horn quickly established himself as a standout player, even making the Pro Bowl last season. However, injuries have plagued his career, as he has only played 37 out of 68 regular-season games. Despite his challenges, he was signed earlier this year to a substantial four-year, $100 million contract, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at that time.
