Trump and Tim Cook Reveal $600 Billion Apple Investment in the U.S.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook have revealed that the tech giant is set to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years, marking an increase of $100 billion from its initial investment plans.

During a press event with Cook and Treasury officials, Trump highlighted these substantial investments in the Oval Office.

“This represents the largest investment Apple has ever made in the US and elsewhere,” Trump stated, noting that the company is “going home.”

The investment encompasses a significant manufacturing initiative that includes setting up assembly lines throughout the United States, expected to create over 20,000 new American jobs and “thousands more for Apple suppliers like Corning, Broadcom, Texas Instruments, and Samsung,” according to Trump.

Apple is collaborating with Corning to establish the world’s largest smart glass production facility in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Additionally, plans for a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Houston aim to produce servers, alongside billions allocated for developing data centers across various states including North Carolina, Iowa, and Oregon, as trumpeted by Trump.

Cook mentioned that eventually, all iPhones and Apple Watches sold globally will be made from glass sourced from the Kentucky production lines. He even gifted Trump with an item made from this Kentucky factory glass, featuring Trump’s name, the phrase “Apple American Manufacturing Program,” and Cook’s signature, all on a 24-carat gold base.

Moreover, Apple has launched the “Academy of Manufacturing” in Detroit, Michigan, and is implementing a rare earth recycling line in Mountain Pass, California, which is complemented by a rare earth magnet facility in Texas. Trump expressed genuine enthusiasm by saying, “Oh, I love you doing this.”

As part of the overarching initiative, Apple will also aid in semiconductor manufacturing in states like Arizona, New York, Texas, and Utah, as highlighted by the president.

“I’m thrilled to join you today. We’ve committed to an additional $100 billion in the US, bringing our total investment to $600 billion over the next four years,” Cook emphasized. “As part of this effort, we are unveiling Apple’s American manufacturing program.”

“Alongside the US manufacturing initiative, we’ve also observed considerable advancements in AI, expanding our data center capabilities in North Carolina, Nevada, Iowa, Arizona, and Oregon,” Cook added.
