Surge in Violence Against ICE Agents Reported
Kristi Noem, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, has brought attention to a troubling spike in violent attacks on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Noem shared on X that assaults against ICE personnel have reportedly increased by 1,000%. She emphasized the risks these agents take in apprehending dangerous criminal illegal aliens.
It’s a bit unclear what timeframe this dramatic increase refers to. However, reports from last month indicated an 830% rise in assaults on ICE officials from January to July 2025.
Noem described this violence as being fueled by “sanctuary politicians” whose rhetoric disparages law enforcement.
One alarming incident occurred in June when protests against ICE turned violent near Los Angeles, with demonstrators specifically targeting federal immigration enforcement officers.
On June 20, a group of protesters aggressively rammed vehicles operated by Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigation agents.
A video from that day illustrated the tense situation, as federal officers had to use tear gas and smoke bombs to retreat safely from the chaotic crowd.
In the face of these challenges, Noem is advancing ICE’s recruitment strategy, offering new incentives such as a $50,000 signing bonus and eliminating age restrictions. She claims this move has been quite effective so far.
Noem asserted that the agency remains resolute, saying, “We will not and have not let this violence stop us. Every day our law enforcement enforces the law and arrests serious criminals.”
She concluded her post with a link to the ICE application page.
