Steve Bannon responds simply to news about a 2028 presidential campaign

According to a report in the Daily Mail, which cites a source close to Steve Bannon, he is gearing up for a possible 2028 presidential run. Bannon’s response was simply “Trump 2028.” This has led to speculation that he might be a leading candidate for a GOP nomination, potentially as a vice presidential pick.

Insiders close to Bannon expressed to the Daily Mail that he is skeptical about whether JD Vance would be a strong enough candidate in 2028.

This week, President Trump mentioned that JD Vance could be his successor, suggesting that Vance and Marco Rubio could potentially form a formidable ticket—though he also noted it’s “too early” to dive into that topic.

Bannon’s brief statement caught attention when it was published by The National Pulse, which accused the Daily Mail of creating a misleading narrative aimed at creating rifts within the Republican Party.

In a March conversation with Politico, Bannon insisted he isn’t positioning himself as a candidate, calling the idea “absurd.” He emphasized he’s focused on supporting Trump’s populist agenda instead. In April, he mentioned there were various ways for Trump to navigate constitutional term limits. He’s indicated that there’s an ongoing team looking into those possibilities.

Notably, proposals have been introduced in Congress that would allow a president to serve a third term. But, as it stands, those amendments are not under serious consideration. On a related note, Trump merchandise featuring “Trump 2028” continues to be sold, including a $50 hat, adding fuel to the speculation around Trump’s future plans.
