Trump’s Second Term: A Focus on Economic and Border Policies

In reflection of President Donald Trump’s second term beginning in 2025, reporter Caroline Lewitt expressed commendation for Trump’s commitment to fulfilling promises made during his campaigns.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Lewitt noted that Trump “actually keeps his words” and has made substantial strides in delivering on key commitments.

President Trump has swiftly advanced his economic agenda with the introduction of what he calls “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” This legislation aims to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent, reinforcing the economic landscape of the nation. It also includes trade agreements focused on enhancing border security, deporting illegal aliens, reducing trade deficits, and generating new revenue streams.

At a signing ceremony in July, Trump remarked, “We have made Trump’s tax cuts formally permanent. It’s the biggest tax cut in our country’s history. Once implemented, our country will soar economically. We have no tax on overtime and no tax on Social Security for our seniors.”

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers commented, “In just 200 days, President Trump has transformed America into the hottest country in the world. Under Joe Biden’s leadership, families and businesses struggled, but Trump swiftly restored America’s greatness through historic trade and peace deals.”

Alongside economic measures, President Trump’s spending bills are set to enhance border security and funding for customs personnel while introducing work requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries to combat waste and fraud. The new law also allocates funds for families, encouraging them to invest in their children’s futures.

Leavitt further emphasized, “Thanks to President Trump’s relentless efforts and record-breaking achievements, the golden age of America is upon us.”

Trump’s ongoing border policies focus on constructing walls in areas like El Paso, Texas, with no illegal aliens having been released into the U.S. for months.

On the trade front, agreements have been reached with the European Union, Japan, South Korea, the UK, the Philippines, and negotiations with China continue. The EU recently agreed to implement a 15% tariff on imports while allowing American goods duty-free access, along with a commitment to purchase $750 billion in U.S. products by 2028 and invest an additional $600 billion in the U.S.

As a result of these trade agreements and tariff policies, the U.S. is seeing impressive economic growth, reporting a 3.0% growth rate in the second quarter.

The Trump administration has also turned its attention to artificial intelligence, directing the development of a comprehensive AI action plan to strengthen its position as a global leader in the field. The recently announced AI Action Plan outlines priorities like the expansion of data centers and the protection of free speech within AI models.

Michael Krazios, the White House Director of Science and Technology Policy, remarked, “The American AI Action Plan establishes a clear path to solidify U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. President Trump views AI as key to American innovation and leadership in science and technology.”

Moreover, the administration is working to dismantle regulatory barriers affecting the energy sector, recognizing its crucial role in advancing AI. Responding to supporters’ calls, Trump has encouraged investments from energy companies to modernize natural gas infrastructure and upgrade nuclear facilities.
