A recent video has emerged showing former NFL player Terrell Suggs brandishing a firearm before his arrest in April 2024, stemming from an incident at a Starbucks in Arizona the prior month. The footage, released by TMZ, captures a full altercation between Suggs and another individual at a drive-thru, culminating with Suggs apparently displaying a gun out of his car window as he was leaving.
The situation kicked off when Suggs mentioned he reversed his vehicle to get closer to the Starbucks intercom when he clashed with the other car.
“You’ve just returned to me, man,” the other man said during their exchange.
Following a brief back-and-forth, the man exited his vehicle, prompting Suggs to confront him outside. Suggs asserted that neither of them had made contact with his car before they both returned to their vehicles.
After receiving his order, Suggs displayed an obscene gesture out of the window. The exchange continued, with Suggs saying, “Do you want to go?” and repeatedly threatening, “I’ll kill your B-CH ass,” before driving away from the drive-thru.
As he pulled away, Suggs made a point of kicking his gun out of the window while looking at the man.
Following an investigation, the police in Maricopa County apprehended Suggs, who, at 42, faced charges for intimidation and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in February, resulting in an 18-month probation sentence.
In response to the video release, Suggs’ representatives issued a statement to TMZ. Attorney Dennis White explained, “There was an incident at a Starbucks drive-thru. Terrell tried to safely back out when the person behind him became aggressive and falsely accused him of hitting their car.” He further elaborated that the situation became tense when the man approached Suggs confrontationally, suggesting he felt threatened.
White clarified that while Suggs “pointed a firearm,” his intention was simply to protect himself when necessary. Suggs, acknowledging Arizona’s open carry laws, expressed awareness of the responsibilities tied to firearm ownership and stated that his actions were not meant to escalate the situation, but rather stemmed from a feeling of being threatened.
Suggs is well-regarded as one of the greatest players in Ravens history. He dedicated 16 of his 17 NFL seasons to Baltimore and earned seven Pro Bowl selections along with one All-Pro designation. He celebrated a Super Bowl victory with the Ravens in 2012 and again with the Chiefs in 2019 for his second championship ring.
