Jalen Milroe makes a strong impression in his first preseason game with the Seahawks

Jalen Milroe’s NFL Debut

Jalen Milroe took the field for his first NFL game on Thursday, throwing for 61 yards during the Seahawks’ preseason match.

The quarterback, previously a standout at Alabama, was picked in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft after impressing throughout his college career.

Describing his debut as a moment of “dreams come true,” Milroe is now navigating a changing landscape in Seattle’s quarterback situation following Geno Smith’s exit, which shifted dynamics within the team.

On Thursday, Milroe also contributed on the ground, rushing for 38 yards and taking a significant number of snaps at center, trailing only Drew Lock, who returned to the Seahawks this season.

A commentator noted, “I thought Jalen played well. There are definitely a few areas where he can tighten things up, like ball manipulation and timing. But what stood out was how he extended plays with his legs, which was really impressive.”

As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Milroe finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting, tossing 23 touchdowns against just six interceptions, alongside another 12 rushing touchdowns, racking up a total of 3,365 yards.

In his following season as a redshirt junior, he managed 16 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, with his quarterback rating dipping from 172 to 148, yet his rushing ability shone through as he accumulated 726 yards and 20 touchdowns.

In their first preseason encounter, the Seahawks and Raiders ended in a tie at 23-23.

Drew Lock completed 12 of his 22 passes for 147 yards, throwing for touchdowns and interceptions. On the other side, Smith started for the Raiders but had a brief outing, managing just one completed pass for 15 yards on three attempts.
