Yankees Struggle Despite Judge’s Return
These days, even Aaron Judge seems unable to turn things around for the Yankees.
In a recent game, he managed to tie the game in the sixth inning, and again in the ninth, but the efforts fell short as Houston’s closer, Josh Hader, sealed yet another defeat for the Yankees. It was a tough loss, especially with Devin Williams struggling on the mound.
Since Judge’s return from a 10-game absence due to elbow flexor issues, the Yankees have lost two out of three games. His impact, though visible, hasn’t translated into wins; he has only one hit in six at-bats, and the team hasn’t scored more than three runs in any of these games.
Judge made an appearance towards the end of one inning, but prior to that, the Yankees struggled to generate much offense against Houston’s pitcher, Hunter Brown. They didn’t have a solid hit until the sixth inning.
He finished the fourth inning with a pop-out and, later in the game, managed a key RBI single that brought the Yankees level at 2-2. The inning, which saw other runners on base, was a fleeting moment of hope amid a disappointing game.
However, their failure to capitalize on scoring opportunities has been a recurring issue lately. After that inning, with a runner on the corners and just one out, the Yankees replaced Brown with left-hander Bennett Sousa. Unfortunately, Sousa quickly extinguished any further momentum, getting both hitters to pop out.
In the end, Williams could not hold it together, giving away three runs, and the Yankees found themselves on the losing end again, extending their rough patch to six losses in seven games.
