Jacob Misiorowski’s Remarkable Start
Jacob Misiorowski is making quite an impression. The Brewers’ rookie is not only dazzling fans with his performance on the mound, but he’s also caught a little luck off the field.
After a recent win over the Mets, he pulled a rare Pokémon card from a pack released back in 1999. That must have been quite a thrill!
His teammates were just as excited as he was, as evident from a video shared on Closer Trevor Megill’s Instagram Story.
“It’s a big card, and it was a lot of fun. Really cool,” Misiorowski shared. “I never expected anything like it. When I saw the red, I thought—wow, this might actually be something special.”
If the card is in good shape, it could be valued around $455. But if it gets graded by a certified company, who knows how much it might go up?
In mint condition, a Charizard card from the same set can be worth about $15,000, with only 489 such copies graded as PSA 10.
Interestingly, after the team’s series-opening win, Brewers’ first baseman Rhys Hoskins shared some of his old card packs with teammates.
Pitcher Brandon Woodruff is also getting into the collecting game, opening packs with Hoskins.
“We’ve been hitting up card shops on the road for the last few months,” Hoskins noted. “I’ve been collecting for about five years now; it brings back so many memories.”
Misiorowski’s early career is proving to be quite the story. He already garnered a controversial All-Star selection after just five starts.
With a solid 2.70 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 33 innings, he’s making waves in the league.
Currently, he is on the injured list due to a shin contusion but is expected to return soon after pitching three simulated innings on Saturday.
