Bill Maher Comments on “The View” Co-Hosts
During a recent episode of his podcast, “Club Random,” comedian Bill Maher suggested that the female co-hosts of “The View” may not fully represent women. Maher visited “The View” in May 2024, where he interacted with co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar. He mentioned that while he appreciates all of them, he feels they don’t truly reflect the diversity of their gender and political affiliations.
“I have a lot of love for Whoopi and Joy; I’ve known them for quite a while,” Maher shared. He also remarked on how people often view their opinions as not particularly useful in the context of elections.
In his discussion with Hostin, Maher touched upon the term “awakening,” remarking that despite his past understanding of racial issues, he felt that his viewpoints had become somewhat twisted over time. “You can’t tell me the left hasn’t changed,” he stated. “I remember being a conservative once, and that’s a story for another day… but if you’re doubtful about the shifts on the left, just look at how people react to groups like Hamas.”
Maher also expressed concern that he lost some credibility due to self-censorship regarding President Joe Biden. When Behar queried whether he worried about his influence, Maher replied, “I feel like I’m not that powerful, but my connection with my audience is grounded in honesty—I don’t hold back.”
Additionally, Maher spoke with Goldberg in a July episode of his podcast, addressing remarks made during a previous “View” episode that compared the treatment of Black Americans to that of citizens in Iran. He found this comparison troubling, saying, “It feels like waking up from a deep sleep to realize how misguided some views can be.”
Currently, “The View” is on its annual summer break, which generally lasts until August.
