Zohran Mamdani Launches Anti-Trump Tour in New York

Correspondent Brian Relenas has the latest on Zohran Mamdani’s anti-Trump efforts in New York City. The topic even brought Jimmy Fila and Kennedy into the conversation, discussing the former Bravo star’s comments regarding Trump supporters.

Ben Rhodes, a former high-ranking official in the Obama administration, emphasizes that Democrats should not fear their own future. He suggests that they ought to adopt the approach of mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist.

Rhodes, best known for defending the Iranian nuclear deal during his time as President Obama’s deputy national security adviser, has become a familiar face on MSNBC and co-hosts the Pod Save the World podcast. In a recent New York Times essay titled “Short-term thinking is destroying America,” he argues that Democrats often shy away from controversial stances, which he believes hinders them.

“The reaction to Mamdani’s campaign—offering innovative political strategies—shows that many in the party fear what lies ahead,” Rhodes notes.

Rhodes comments that Democrats need to engage more actively with their communities, without succumbing to fear of criticism. He encourages them to rethink their funding strategies and collaborate to foster generational change, making the party more representative and diverse.

Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim, won the Democratic primary for New York City mayor back in June. He recently kicked off his “Five Boroughs Against Trump” tour in New York.

Rhodes remarked, “Trump embodies a nostalgic past, but his grip is not unbreakable. Many Americans are living in a reality he controls while ignoring the future.”

Rhodes gained significant recognition in 2016 after revealing in a New York Times interview that he and Obama’s foreign policy team had crafted an “echo chamber” to promote the Iranian nuclear deal. Trump later withdrew the U.S. from the agreement in 2018, criticizing it as fundamentally flawed.
