Myles Garrett Cited for Speeding After Preseason Game

Myles Garrett, the standout defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, was reportedly cited for driving at 100 mph early Saturday, shortly after the team’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

The incident occurred in Strongsville, Ohio, where Garrett was clocked going 40 mph over the speed limit of 60 mph. This citation followed the team’s return flight from Charlotte after their game on Friday night.

For his speeding, Garrett received a $250 ticket, which he can resolve without appearing in court. The Browns organization is aware of the situation and plans to address it when they meet in Philadelphia ahead of their upcoming preseason game against the Super Bowl Champion Eagles.

This isn’t the first time Garrett has faced speeding issues; it marks the eighth time he has been cited in the Cleveland area since he entered the league as the first overall pick in 2017. Notably, he had a previous speeding incident involving a Porsche back in 2022 when he tried to avoid hitting animals on the road.

Interestingly, speeding seems to be a recurring theme for the Browns lately. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has also been caught speeding multiple times, most recently driving at 101 mph in a 60 mph zone just a couple of weeks ago.

In June, while addressing his own speeding citations, Sanders acknowledged making poor choices and reflected on his experiences at a charity event. He expressed a desire to learn from those mistakes.

As Garrett gears up for the 2025 season with a significant four-year contract extension worth over $40 million per season—racking up over $133 million in total—he continues to be hailed as one of the top defensive players in the league. In the previous season, he achieved 14 sacks and 47 tackles, reinforcing his status in football conversations.
