Colorado’s Quarterback Decision for 2025 Season
For the past couple of years, Deion Sanders had a pretty straightforward choice for Colorado’s starting quarterback: his son, Shedale Sanders. But this year? Well, it’s a different story.
This season, Shedale is embarking on his professional journey. Thus, Coach Prime finds himself in the position of having to select a starting quarterback for Colorado’s season opener against Georgia Tech, which is just under two weeks away.
He’s currently weighing his options between Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and freshman Julian Lewis. “Honestly, both of these guys have the potential to lead the team,” Sanders commented, expressing faith in their abilities.
Salter has had a productive run, throwing for a combined 66 touchdowns over the last two seasons—47 through the air and 19 on the ground. That’s quite impressive, right?
On the other hand, Lewis is a standout recruit, boasting a five-star rating from high school. He racked up an astonishing 11,010 passing yards at Carrollton High School in Georgia.
“Kaidon is versatile,” Sanders said. “He can throw and run effectively. He’s certainly a game-changer.” And as for Lewis? Sanders is really high on him too, believing he has the potential to shine when given the opportunity. “When it’s his time, he’ll definitely soar,” he added.
The atmosphere between Salter and Lewis seems quite healthy. They’ve been described as friends who are dedicated to pushing each other to improve. Interestingly, they’ve gotten to know each other’s families, too.
As the decision nears, it’s clear that competition can bring out the best in both players, making this quarterback choice an intriguing aspect of the season ahead.
