Travis Kelce Reflects on Recent NFL Seasons and Future Goals
Travis Kelce acknowledges that the last two seasons in the NFL haven’t been his finest. In a recent range of interviews with GQ, the three-time Super Bowl champion talked about his journey, including his personal life with Taylor Swift. He noted that, “The past two years have flown by.” He added, “I’ve dabbled in entertainment, which is pretty standard.”
“I may have lost a bit of focus because I was trying to establish myself in a new arena,” Kelce (35) shared in the September issue. “It challenged me to explore acting and entertainment.”
Kelce reiterated his commitment to hard work, stating, “I take pride in never wanting to let my products suffer. The last couple of years haven’t really reflected my usual standards.” As he gears up for the 2024 season, the future Hall of Fame tight end is stepping into new roles, including hosting Amazon’s game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity,” and starring in Ryan Murphy’s TV drama “Grotesquerie.”
This summer, he also made a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2,” which debuted on Netflix in July.
Despite a rough outing during the Super Bowl, where he didn’t play a significant role in the Chiefs’ offense, Kelce’s determination is strong. The Chiefs faced a 40-22 defeat against the Eagles despite being back in the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.
Looking ahead, he feels a renewed sense of purpose for his 13th season. “I have the motivation to show up for my teammates this year,” he expressed.
Kelce has been hard at work this offseason and the team is noticing. Coach Andy Reid commented at the start of training camp, “He looks incredible—like he’s 20. He’s doing a great job.” Last season, Kelce recorded 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns. He has his eyes set on the upcoming season opener against the Chargers in Brazil on September 5th.
