Pete Alonso had quite the night, earning two curtain calls during the game on Tuesday. He not only solidified his place in Mets history by taking sole ownership of a franchise home run record but also provided a spark for the struggling team.
The night didn’t start smoothly for the Mets. Clay Holmes struggled on the mound, pitching just 3²/₃ innings, giving up five walks and six hits while striking out five. Although he began with a lead of 5-1, he ultimately couldn’t hold it together.
