Bojangles is growing on the East Coast with a new restaurant in Brooklyn.

Exciting news! Bojangles, the Southern fast food chain, is making a comeback to New York City after 40 years, starting with a new location in Brooklyn, as announced on Wednesday.

In total, Bojangles plans to launch 85 restaurants throughout New York and New Jersey over the next ten years, with the first opening in Brooklyn this winter.

This marks a significant milestone. The return to the New York metropolitan area seems to align perfectly with the East Coast’s craving for that genuine Southern charm Bojangles is known for, and there’s anticipation about introducing some fresh flavors to local fans.

They have already begun work on the soon-to-be restaurant in East Flatbush, making a comeback to the city after a brief presence in the ’80s.

Bojangles has teamed up with restaurant owners Habib Hashimi and Hashimi Holding Corporation for this next phase of development.

Hashimi expressed his enthusiasm, noting Bojangles stands out with its tasty chicken, biscuits, and the solid support system for franchisees. He mentioned, “We couldn’t be prouder to lead Bojangles’ growth in NYC. Our team brings a wealth of experience in quick service across New York and Connecticut, and we’re confident that locals will appreciate the Southern flavors and hospitality.”

Last year, Bojangles expanded into Los Angeles County, where it plans to open 30 locations over six years, moving further away from its Southern roots.

The brand, which was established in 1977 in Charlotte, North Carolina, currently operates over 800 locations across 21 states. It’s known for its legendary menu featuring fried chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea.

Interestingly, Bojangles isn’t the first Southern favorite to hit NYC. Raise Cane’s recently opened its first location in Times Square in June 2023 and is looking to expand further, including a planned spot near Columbia University in Morningside Heights.
