Joe Rogan Critiques Trump’s Deportation Policies

Podcast host Joe Rogan has voiced his concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s deportation strategies and the administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement, particularly criticizing ICE raids that, as he puts it, involve “removing landscapers.”

In a recent episode, Rogan engaged with Florida Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna about the deportation plans, seeming to lean towards a liberal viewpoint. He suggested that minorities often occupy low-paying jobs and emphasized that Americans tend to avoid those roles.

Rogan agreed with Luna that many immigrant protests are influenced by external agents, such as “Chinese agitators.” However, he also suggested that there is genuine outrage over ICE actions against immigrants in the U.S.

“I absolutely believe this is true,” he remarked about Luna’s point on foreign involvement, though he also acknowledged there were responses to some ICE operations.

He further noted that Americans are upset about ICE arresting immigrants, framing it as a reaction to the idea of detaining individuals who are simply trying to get by. He described this reaction as “visceral,” pointing out that many people were shocked by ICE taking individuals from places like schools or Home Depot.

It’s important to indicate that ICE doesn’t exactly “snatch people out of schools,” and by being in the country illegally, many are technically breaking the law, irrespective of their work ethic.

Rogan elaborated on public perceptions of ICE, saying, “When people thought of ICE, they thought, ‘Great, we’re getting rid of gang members,’ not, ‘Great, you’re deporting the landscape gardeners.’”

This isn’t the first time Rogan has made similar observations. Recently, he criticized the actions of ICE at job sites, describing them as “crazy.” His past remarks have garnered attention from various media outlets, including left-leaning shows that spotlight opposition to Trump’s immigration policies.

Despite Rogan’s critical tone toward immigration enforcement, polls reveal that many Americans continue to back the president’s deportation policies.

A recent Marquette survey indicates that a clear majority supports deportations of individuals living in the U.S. without legal status. July data showed 57% in favor of deportations, versus 43% against. However, views differ significantly by political affiliation.

Among Republicans, support for deporting illegal immigrants stands at a staggering 93%. Among independents, only 41% are for deportation, creating a shift from earlier support levels. In May, 61% of independents favored immigration restrictions.

Democrats largely oppose deportations, with 78% against and only 22% in favor, reflecting a notable decline from March when 41% showed support for deportation, which was then a record high.

Additionally, a Harvard Harris survey revealed strong backing for Trump’s immigration policies, particularly regarding border control and targeting illegal immigrants involved in criminal activity.
