Rep. Greene claims Zelenskyy is attempting to undermine Trump-Putin peace discussions

Greene Accuses Zelenskyy of Sabotaging Peace Talks

Late Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia made a striking statement regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She accused him of attempting to derail the upcoming peace negotiations between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Greene reacted to a post on X from “Open Source Intel,” which mentioned one of Ukraine’s largest drone attacks on Russia. In her response, she suggested that Zelenskyy’s actions were a clear effort to undermine Trump’s attempts to bring peace to the Ukraine conflict. “On the eve of the historic peace talks, Zelensky will do this,” she remarked, emphasizing her concern about his intentions.

In the meantime, Fox News Digital has reached out to the Ukrainian Embassy for their comments regarding Greene’s claims.

Zelenskyy Advocates for Direct Talks with Putin

On Thursday, Ukraine executed multiple drone strikes in Russia, causing damage to apartments in the Southern Rostov city and injuring over 12 civilians, with two in serious condition. Reports also indicated injuries from a Ukrainian attack in the Belgorod region, where three people were hurt, alongside another strike that resulted in a fatality.

Despite this ongoing violence, Trump and Putin are set to meet in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday. This high-stakes summit is their first since 2015 and the first U.S.-Russia meeting since June 2021.

What to Expect from the Trump-Putin Meeting

Putin recently commended the U.S. for its “honest efforts” to resolve the conflict, expressing a need for agreements that would stop the current crises. However, Zelensky criticized Russia for its lack of commitment to a peaceful resolution. He stated, “This war must end,” urging for collective pressure on Russia for a just peace.

“There are no signs that Russia is preparing to end this conflict,” he noted. The Ukrainian leader argued that coordinated efforts among Ukraine, the U.S., Europe, and all peace-seeking nations are essential to compel Russia toward negotiations.
