Megadeth Announces Final Album and Farewell Tour
It’s a poignant moment for fans as the iconic American thrash metal band Megadeth reveals that their forthcoming album will mark the end of their recording journey.
They also plan to kick off their farewell tour in 2026.
In a statement released Thursday, Dave Mustaine, the founder and lead vocalist, reflected on the careers of many musicians drawing to a close, whether by choice or circumstance. “It seems like there are a lot of us reaching the end of the line,” he said.
Mustaine noted that many artists don’t get to conclude their careers on their own terms. “I feel like I’ve reached that stage in my life. I’ve traveled the world and built a huge fanbase,” he added.
Details regarding the album title, release date, and remaining tour stops are still under wraps.
Mustaine expressed that the time is right for this finale, saying, “Don’t be upset or angry, just celebrate with us over the next few years. We’ve achieved something pretty incredible.”
Reflecting on their impact, he shared, “We started with our own musical styles and sparked revolutions in the world of guitar. The music we created made a real mark.”
This announcement follows a teaser post from the band that ominously stated, “The end is coming…”
Formed in 1983 after Mustaine’s departure from Metallica, Megadeth launched their career with their debut album, “Killing is My Business …and business is good!” released in 1985.
