Baseball Players Embrace Luxurious Jewelry Trends

Some Major League Baseball players have recently made waves with their fashion choices on the field. Among these, many are sporting necklaces from the renowned French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels (VCA).

These necklaces typically retail for around $11,000 and feature the brand’s signature Alhambra symbol. This collection is inspired by the four-leaf clover and is said to embody a universal symbol of luck, while also drawing from rich architectural traditions.

The Alhambra collection takes cues from the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, known for its intricate arches and beautiful geometric designs. Interestingly, a jeweler based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has started a trend among MLB players. Joseph Tacher, the shop owner, mentioned that Miguel Rojas of the Los Angeles Dodgers was the first to request a piece from this collection.

Rojas has been seen wearing an Onyx Alhambra necklace along with matching VCA earrings and delicate mother-of-pearl butterfly earrings. Similarly, Junior Kaminero, an infielder for the Tampa Bay Rays, has been spotted donning an Onyx necklace and two Alhambra bracelets off the field.

Notably, VCA has strong connections to Monaco’s royals, famously crafting a wedding set for Grace Kelly, adorned with pearls and diamonds. The French jewelry house has even been designated as “the patented supplier of the Principality of Monaco.”

Joc Pederson of the Texas Rangers has also been seen wearing a vibrant green and white necklace. Tacher noted that players appreciate the appeal and versatility of these pieces, saying they can be both casual and dressed up.

He mentioned that requests for jewelry from MLB players have surged, and he often tells them that looking good contributes to performing well on the field.

With over 35 years in the jewelry business, Tacher’s organization has a history of working with baseball players, including Hall of Famer David Ortiz, who is recognized as “Big Papi.” The shop has also provided custom pieces for numerous players, and there are ongoing showcases at various team venues.

Van Cleef & Arpels has yet to respond publicly to inquiries about this growing trend among athletes.
