PGA Tour Golfer Ben Griffin’s BMW Championship Performance
Ben Griffin, a golfer on the PGA Tour, faced quite a challenge during the final round of the BMW Championship. After a promising start on Thursday, things didn’t go quite as planned for him on Sunday. He stumbled right out of the gate, making bogeys on the first three holes, which is, well, not the ideal way to start a round.
On the par 4 first hole, he scored a disappointing seven points, followed by six on the second hole. Things took a slight turn for the better when he managed to recover with seven birdies on the last 15 holes, ultimately finishing the round with a score of 69.
Despite the rocky start, Griffin ended the tournament at 3 under par, tying for 12th place alongside notable players like Rory McIlroy and Harris English. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler took home the victory at 15 under par, two strokes ahead of Robert McIntyre and four ahead of Maverick McNeely.
After his round, Griffin shared some insight into his difficulties, mentioning issues related to creatine supplements. He described an incident where he accidentally drank from a bottle containing a large amount of creatine, which led to him feeling destabilized. “I’ve never had an overdose of creatine before,” he mentioned, adding that this was a new experience for him. “I basically just sucked in the snowman, so I started to get very unstable. I’ve never felt that way before.”
Notably, he remarked on the tough situation he found himself in during the early holes, humorously reflecting on feeling a bit “crazy” and unsure how to proceed after putting four putts on a single hole.
Thankfully, his caddy Adam Lithamel provided much-needed support, helping him navigate through this tricky incident.
Griffin, originally from North Carolina, has had a solid career with two PGA Tour victories under his belt. This season, he’s also made notable appearances, including wins at the Zurch Classic in New Orleans and the Charles Schwab Challenge.
