Ray Stevens Shares Plans for Gradual Retirement Due to Health Concerns

Ray Stevens Recovers from Heart Attack, Plans to Revive Career

Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Stevens has shared that he is on the mend after experiencing a mild heart attack. He’s now looking to reignite his career.

Following health concerns, doctors in Nashville performed minimally invasive heart surgery on Stevens, placing two stents to address additional blockages. His team announced the news via social media on Sunday, noting that the singer had spent several days in rehabilitation before returning home.

In the same update, it was noted that Stevens intends to sell the cabaret showroom located in West Nashville. However, he is eager to get back on stage and will hold a live concert at Kabalay as soon as he’s able.

At 86 years old, Stevens reflected on the necessity of selling the venue, saying, “It’s time to slow down with my recent health issues, so selling Cabale is the first step.” Yet he reassured his fans that he still has plenty of music left in him.

“I plan to do a show once I’m fully recovered. There’s so much I want to accomplish in the recording studio,” he stated. “I’ll be focusing my energy there and might even be creating the music to the music.” It suggests a renewed passion.

In his statement, Stevens also expressed a desire to see the cabaret showroom handed over to someone who will cherish it as much as he did. “I want to see someone buy it and enjoy it here as much as I have,” he added.

The Kabalay Showroom, which opened in 2018, has served as a versatile venue for many events, including weddings, TV show tapings, and various performances. Described as a fantastic music space, it boasts a large showroom with more than 700 seats, a backstage area, and cutting-edge studios, along with ample parking for guests.
