Katherine Zeta-Jones Talks About Her Real Estate and Family Life
Katherine Zeta-Jones, the actress known for her glamorous lifestyle, recently shared her thoughts on her real estate holdings. In an interview with the Sunday Times, the 55-year-old discussed the numerous properties she owns with her husband, Michael Douglas. She insists her collection isn’t extravagant, stating, “I know it sounds very jet set, and I love surrounding myself with beauty, but it’s not overly, it’s very comfortable.”
The couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in New York in 2000 and have two children together: Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22.
Zeta-Jones reflects on how they decided to leave the hustle of New York City, noting her aversion to the “summer city” heat. After Michael introduced her to Bermuda, where her mother is from, she fell in love with the island and its charm. “It’s only an hour and a half by plane. I had a photo of the Queen when I went to the bank, a British colony. I bought a house there and stayed there for 10 years,” she explained.

The actress recalls how she gets excited about evening dresses, pondering the idea of spending a large sum on casual items like a white T-shirt. She boasts about her vast collection of Fendi baguette bags, highlighting how some came from her friendships in the fashion industry.
Looking back at their marriage, Zeta-Jones was already gaining recognition from films like The Mask of Zorro, while Douglas was established thanks to his roles in classics like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. They both accumulated impressive accolades along the way; Zeta-Jones even won an Academy Award for her role in Chicago. Interestingly, they keep their Oscars in separate homes for security reasons. “Mine is in a rural New York home and Michael’s is in an apartment in New York,” she explained, humorously adding, “Just to be safe, we’ll keep them apart.”
Michael Douglas rose to fame in the early ’70s, coming from a legendary acting family. His father, Kirk Douglas, a well-known actor himself, passed away at age 103 in February 2020. Zeta-Jones reminisced about her late father-in-law’s charm, saying, “He was a flirty little thing… I miss him.” She acknowledged that Kirk and his wife, Anne, left a lasting legacy of charity beyond their film careers.
Currently, Zeta-Jones is captivating audiences as Morticia Addams in the popular Netflix series, Wednesday.
