Rubio Praises Trump for Efforts in Ukraine Peace Talks

Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently commended President Donald Trump for his advancements toward peace in the ongoing war in Ukraine. He criticized the former Biden administration for its lack of decisive action regarding the conflict.

During an appearance on Fox News’ “Jesse Waters Primetime,” Rubio spoke after meetings involving U.S. and European officials, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He described Trump as “the only leader in the world” capable of facilitating a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, calling the discussions from Monday “unprecedented.”

Rubio pointed out that after three years of stalemate, there had finally been some movement. He noted, “We haven’t seen any discussions or changes in the situation until now. Many lives have been lost and territories contested, yet nothing changed in the war.”

He asserted that now, under this new administration, there are actual talks regarding how to potentially end the conflict. “It requires effort and time, but we’re making headway,” he added. “That’s not just me saying it; that’s what we’ve observed during the discussions.”

Rubio previously described the conflict as a “stalemate of death and destruction” and expressed frustration at the Biden administration’s strategy, which he asserted was to simply keep supplying arms to Ukraine.

“There’s been a shift. It’s no longer just about arming Ukraine; European countries are stepping up, paying through NATO,” he said, highlighting a major change in approach since Biden took office.

After the recent talks in D.C., reports indicated that Putin had accepted a future meeting with Zelensky, accompanied by a potential trilateral discussion involving the U.S.

Rubio saw this willingness to engage as a significant change from past events. “I’m not saying they’ll emerge with a peace deal, but the fact that they’re talking is a victory in itself,” Rubio informed waters, underlining Trump’s top priority to restore peace in Ukraine.

He emphasized Trump’s unique ability to mediate between both leaders, stating, “President Trump is recognized by everyone, especially in Europe, as the only one who can broker these discussions.” He recalled six previous peace attempts Trump had mediated, underscoring Trump’s commitment to reducing conflict.
