Virginia Teacher Arrested on Child Sex Crime Allegations

A teacher from a private Christian school in Virginia has been arrested due to allegations related to child sex crimes. Katelin Campbell, 34, who taught English at Ch Friend School in Halifax County, was taken into custody on Thursday. Reports suggest that she had consensual sexual contact with a minor, specifically someone at least 15 years old.

The school administration acted promptly once the allegations came to light. Dana Jones, the school’s principal, mentioned, “Within an hour of receiving this information, two members of the board went directly to the South Boston Police Department to report what was disclosed.” It’s worth noting that Campbell submitted her resignation later that same day.

Jones also expressed a commitment to prioritize integrity over reputation, stating that they chose to be transparent rather than conceal the situation. “The Bible is very clear that it will become clear if it is done in the dark,” she said, emphasizing that truth is paramount.

While acknowledging that involving law enforcement can attract unwanted scrutiny, Jones reaffirmed the school’s duty to act responsibly. “We know that if we take it to the police station, it will shed light on us,” she added, highlighting their intention to ensure the investigation continued without obstruction.

Currently, it’s unclear whether the alleged victim is a student at this school, but federal attorneys confirmed that the minor involved is male. Campbell is facing two felony charges, including indecent liberties with minors in a custodial role for those over 15.

Records indicate that she was booked at the Halifax County Adult Detention Center and later released on bond.
