Reports indicate that a well-known hair and makeup artist was shot and killed by her son at a residence in the Washington, D.C. area on Sunday.
Renee Travis Baldwin, 57, was allegedly shot by her 27-year-old son, Logan Klingerter, inside an apartment in Arlington, Virginia, shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, as reported by local news.
Authorities stated that she was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she did not survive.
Klingerter remained at the scene and is now in custody at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Baldwin was a veteran in the television industry, most recently contributing her expertise to Newsmax and working with anchors like Greta Van Susteren.
Van Susteren expressed her sorrow on social media, saying, “What a tragedy… Renee had worked with us at Newsmax for three and a half years, and her colleagues were deeply affected by this loss.” She added that Baldwin had done her makeup just days earlier, noting she never thought that would be their last encounter.
Maricera Ramirez, a producer at Newsmax, shared her heartfelt condolences, referring to Baldwin as “the latest angel in heaven.”
She described Baldwin as a “quiet warrior,” someone who bore the weight of her family’s challenges with grace, and reminisced about how Baldwin would affectionately play with clients’ hair even amid tough circumstances.
Klingerter faces charges that include first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Newsmax has not offered any comments in response to the incident.
