Laura Loomer showcases her impact and achieves victories with Trump

Laura Rumer, a far-right activist, has been making waves in the White House by influencing policies and personnel decisions from the outside.

The State Department’s recent suspension of visitor visas for people from Gaza highlights her impact, following her persistent advocacy and extensive social media engagement.

Rumer is an outspoken supporter of President Trump. Although she doesn’t hold an official government position, she has managed to capture the attention of both Trump and Vice President, using her platform to push for significant decisions.

A spokesperson from the White House stated that Rumer does not provide formal advice to the administration, yet Trump mentioned he “occasionally” considers her suggestions.

“Laura Rumer is a great patriot. She’s a very strong person,” Trump shared with reporters after their April meeting at the White House.

However, some aides have been cautious about Rumer’s influence, dating back to the 2024 campaign when Trump reportedly considered offering her a position. Key Trump allies in Congress, like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Sen. Lindsey Graham, have expressed reservations about her presence.

Rumer has voiced her discontent over not being invited to sit in the “new media” spot during press briefings. “I was meant to work for Trump, and despite attempts to make it official, nothing has changed,” she stated, referencing skepticism from some administration officials regarding her intentions.

Despite opposition from Trump’s allies, Rumer’s influence has been evident throughout the second Trump administration.

The State Department’s announcement to suspend visitor visas for Gaza comes amid ongoing conflict with Israel and Hamas, which has led to a humanitarian crisis, claiming many lives, including women and children.

This decision appears to be a result of Rumer’s lobbying efforts, particularly against Heel Palestinian, a nonprofit that facilitates the evacuation of injured children from Gaza to the U.S. for medical treatment. Rumer has labeled this evacuation a “national security threat” and has urged the administration to include Gaza in a travel ban while deporting individuals who have entered the U.S. from there.

Following a conversation with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Rumer noted that he recognized concerns surrounding the matter.

When queried about Rumer’s role in the visa decision, the State Department referred back to Rubio’s comments, which largely defended the action taken.

“We’ve been informed by various council offices that some organizations associated with these visas have alleged ties to terrorist groups like Hamas,” they stated.

Rumer has a history of anti-Muslim rhetoric, once labeling Islam as “cancer” and being banned from X (formerly Twitter) due to her inflammatory remarks, although she regained access after Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform.

Some within the administration view Rumer as a divisive figure. Yet, her push for visa changes showcases her significant sway in the Trump circle. In recent months, she has concentrated on identifying Trump administration officials she believes are not sufficiently aligned with his agenda.

After a meeting in the Oval Office with Trump in April, where she expressed concerns about certain National Security Council staff, several officials were subsequently let go.

Much of her attention has been directed at the Health and Human Services Department, particularly focusing on Trump’s initial and alternative choices for surgeon general.

Rumer has also been vocal about the need to dismiss Vinai Prasad, the FDA’s top vaccine regulator, which prompted intervention from health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to help Prasad retain his position.

Kennedy has become one of Rumer’s recent targets. She has accused Kennedy’s top aide, Stephanie Spear, of establishing groundwork for Kennedy’s presidential run in 2028.

Kennedy was moved to address these accusations on X last week, countering the idea that he is considering a presidential bid. “Let me be clear. I’m not running for president in 2028,” he insisted, affirming his commitment to Trump’s agenda.

Rumer, showing no signs of retreat, declared, “I won’t stop. I’m just going to intensify,” indicating her relentless pursuit in supporting Trump and his loyalists.
