Senator Jared Golden on Government Spending and Regulations
During an interview on Maine Public Radio’s “Main Call,” Senator Jared Golden (D-ME) expressed concerns over how government agencies and initiatives are being scrutinized. He emphasized that defending every dollar spent and every job available doesn’t address the real issues at hand and suggested that the party should focus on the finer details of what is right.
Discussing the effectiveness of regulations related to diesel engine devices, Golden noted the significance of these details. He mentioned that his fellow Democrats from more rural regions often focus on these aspects and strive to make improvements.
He reflected on the reactions of his listeners, highlighting the importance of climate change and the need to take action to reduce emissions. Golden acknowledged this concern and expressed his willingness to collaborate, especially with those in the logging industry.
He reiterated that defending every expense and job doesn’t solve the underlying problems and suggested that this approach is inadequate.
