Yankees achieve significant home run milestone in victory against Rays

Yankees Hit Nine Home Runs, Defeat Rays

There’s a reason the New York Yankees are known as the Bronx Bombers. On Tuesday, they hit a remarkable nine home runs, overpowering the Tampa Bay Rays with a score of 13-3 at George M. Steinbrenner Field. This historic feat makes the Yankees the first team in Major League Baseball to achieve more than nine homers in multiple games, according to baseball analysts. The other occasion? Earlier this season, the Yankees also hit nine home runs in a 20-9 win against the Milwaukee Brewers on March 29.

The Yankees wasted no time against Rays’ starting pitcher Shane Buzz. Aaron Judge blasted a 92-mile-per-hour cutter for the first run, marking his 40th home run of the season. With this achievement, Judge made history as the fourth Yankee ever to record four seasons of at least 40 home runs, joining legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle.

Cody Bellinger followed Judge’s lead, smashing another 92 mph cutter 381 feet to the right field wall, bringing the score to 2-0. Shortly after, Giancarlo Stanton joined the home run parade, hitting one over the center-right wall 386 feet away, making it 3-0. This marked the third time this season that Judge, Bellinger, and Stanton have all hit home runs in a game—a first in Major League history.

In the second inning, the Yankees’ José Caballero faced off against his former team. The Rays managed to respond with two runs, but the Yankees quickly fired back. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit an 85 mph curveball into right field, furthering the lead to 6-2. Stanton then added his second homer later in the fourth inning, followed by a solo shot from catcher Ben Rice, extending the lead to 10-2.

In the sixth inning, Bellinger hammered a two-run homer, pushing the score to 12-2. Finally, Caballero capped off the Yankees’ strong performance with another homer in the ninth inning.

With a current record of 68-57, the Yankees are looking to continue their momentum in an upcoming game against the Rays at 7:35 PM on Wednesday, hoping to extend their winning streak.
