Is Elon Musk abandoning his vision for an America Party in favor of a GOP strategy?

Elon Musk Reevaluating Third-Party Ambitions

Elon Musk might be reconsidering his plans for forming a new political party, pondering that a conservative alternative could sway votes away from Republicans.

A report from a recent Wall Street Journal article suggests Musk is “quietly pulling back” on establishing what he had referred to as the American Party, opting instead to potentially back a Republican candidate.

Musk, who made headlines in late June for his thoughts on the political landscape, specifically on a substantial spending bill, stated that he views this new party as a way for people to express their voices beyond the current two-party system. In a bold declaration, he mentioned, “If this insane spending bill passes, the American party will be formed the next day.”

Yet, some Republican figures, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, have advised against Musk’s intentions, cautioning that a third party might inadvertently aid Democratic candidates.

Musk seems to be taking this advice to heart. According to the Wall Street Journal, unnamed sources reveal that he’s communicating with allies about prioritizing his businesses and maintaining positive relationships with Republicans, particularly with Vice President JD Vance. Reportedly, Musk hinted that supporting Vance could derail some plans of his associates.

The report also noted that while Musk hasn’t completely dismissed the idea of creating a new party, he canceled a planned call with a third-party campaign group in July and hasn’t engaged with those keen on the American Party recently.

In response to the Wall Street Journal’s findings, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk remarked on social media, indicating that Musk appeared to be rethinking his approach and might instead choose to support Vance. He posed that awaiting confirmation from Musk would yield promising news for the nation.

A spokesperson for Vance directed the Wall Street Journal to a prior interview where Vance expressed hope that Musk would rejoin the political fold during the midterm elections.

Although Elon Musk did not respond to a request for comment regarding the Wall Street Journal piece, he took to social media to counter the report, stating, “There’s nothing @WSJ should think of as true.” He didn’t elaborate further.
