Eleventh Biden staff member Ian Sams takes part in House Oversight Committee inquiry

Investigation into White House Allegations Continues

On Thursday morning, the House Oversight Committee will hear from its 11th former aide from the Biden administration, as Republicans delve into claims of a potential coverup within the White House.

Ian Sams, who has extensive experience in Democratic communications, recently served as a senior spokesman for Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign. Prior to that, he was a senior adviser and spokesman for the White House lawyers’ office during Biden’s presidency, primarily handling a Congressional investigation led by Republican members.

“You were the primary line of defense to weave a negative story about the president and his accident,” remarked James Kommer, R-KY, chair of the House Supervisory Committee. This comment was recorded in a communication directed at Sams in late June.

Kommer pointed out that Sams’s tenure, which ran from May 2022 to late August 2024, covered a significant portion of Biden’s term. He stressed that Sams’s responsibilities, both official and personal, should be scrutinized given evidence that could suggest President Biden attempted to suppress details about his presidency.

The committee is attempting to determine whether aides have concealed evidence of Biden’s mental decline from the public and members of his party. Also under investigation are several executive orders signed by Trump towards the end of his term and how those decisions were made in light of Biden’s awareness.

Biden recently stated he “made all the decisions,” although this assertion is now part of the ongoing inquiry.

Sams has also faced public scrutiny, particularly after being called out by Donald Trump. Trump criticized him as a “sub-average guy,” claiming that much of what Sams represented was inaccurate.

As the 11th Biden aide to provide testimony, Sams stands out as the eighth to do so voluntarily, while others were subpoenaed. His interview will take place behind closed doors, with participation expected from both Republican and Democrat committee lawyers.
