Pentagon Renames Conference Room in Honor of Historic Presidents

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses has renamed a conference room at the Pentagon to honor three prominent U.S. presidents: George Washington, John Adams, and Theodore Roosevelt, as exclusively reported. The room, once referred to as “SD Inner,” will now be recognized as the “war room.” This change aligns with Hegses’ attempts to restore traditional military symbols, following a trend of rebranding efforts that include reverting base names to their original Confederate titles and reinstating statues that were altered during the Biden administration.

“This name change represents more than just a new title; it is a declaration,” noted a senior defense official familiar with the decision. “We want to push back against the political correctness that has overshadowed our military’s spirit. Hegses aims to bring back the base’s original name and rejuvenate the Moses Ezekiel Memorial in Arlington.”

In early August, Hegses also worked to revive the Confederate memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, an action he views as a significant step toward reconciliation for those who lost their lives during the Civil War. This memorial had been removed in 2023 under the Biden administration.

Additionally, Hegses restored the names of Fort Bragg and Fort Benning, changing them from Confederate monikers back to their earlier honorifics—this time recognizing two American war heroes instead of a Confederate general sharing a name.

Former President Donald Trump had previously initiated moves to restore several army bases’ Confederate names, which were well-regarded within military circles.

Under Hegses’ direction, the Pentagon is pursuing broader efforts to eliminate what it considers left-leaning initiatives and personnel from the military.
