Fire Engulfs Restaurant and Boats at Long Island Marina
A fast-moving fire broke out at a popular waterfront restaurant, Clavi Amy’s, located at Treasure Island Marina in Seaford, leading to significant destruction. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Thursday, as the flames rapidly spread, damaging at least six boats docked nearby.
Firefighters were seen working hard to suppress the flames engulfing the restaurant’s deck, as dramatic footage captured the intensity of the situation.
Officials suspect the fire’s origin was linked to a surge in tide from Hurricane Erin, which reportedly flooded the restaurant’s electrical systems. The strong winds that accompanied the storm further exacerbated and spread the flames, according to the Onetag Fire Department.
“It appears to have a strong electrical component,” an official indicated, expressing concerns that high tides might have introduced water into the structure, sparking the blaze.
According to the Nassau County Police, six boats were moored at the restaurant, although two were set adrift and needed to be towed back to shore. The incident resulted in a complete loss of four boats, and by 11:30 PM, the fire had been fully extinguished, with no reported injuries.
After the fire, only the charred remnants of Cravi Amy’s remained. The owner expressed gratitude for the support from the community, noting that thankfully, there were no staff or customers present during the incident, and critical structures of the marina were unaffected.
In a statement shared on social media, they reflected on their time serving customers, saying, “We don’t know what the future holds for our beloved crab shed, but we are truly grateful for the time we had with you.”
The Nassau County Fire Department is continuing its investigation into the fire.
