Annemarie Wiley shared her thoughts in an exclusive interview, stating, “I didn’t leave the Democrats. The Democrats left me.” Known for her appearance in season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” she discussed her shift towards conservatism and her perception that her views might’ve kept her off the show.
Beyond her reality TV background, Wiley is the wife of former NFL player Marcellus Wiley, a mother of four, a nurse anesthesiologist, and a former collegiate athlete. Since departing from the show, she has taken on a role as a political commentator, particularly regarding girls’ sports.
In 2023, Marcellus Wiley made headlines with a video advocating for the protection of girls’ sports. He expressed that if a person assigned male at birth transitioned to female and competed against his daughter, he would be concerned for her. This statement garnered both attention and backlash.
Wiley believes her association with these views has negatively impacted her image, saying, “People began to label me as transphobic and paranoid.” Despite the criticism, she aligned herself with her husband’s stance on defending girls’ sports.
She initially didn’t see this as a political matter. To her, it felt like common sense, grounded in biology. Yet, she soon realized the depth of the political implications. Following the debates surrounding this topic, Wiley was not invited back for another season of the show. She takes this as a direct reflection of her political beliefs.
Wiley claims her portrayal in the show was heavily edited, arguing that her conservative viewpoints influenced the narrative against her. Once a liberal and politically disengaged, her experiences led to a newfound political awareness.
Reflecting on her journey, Wiley mentioned her desires for her family, faith, and national security. As an immigrant from Canada, she values safe borders and stable communities.
In January, Wiley fully embraced her conservative identity and posted a notable video supporting Trump regarding girls’ sports, which gained significant traction. Shortly thereafter, she was invited to the White House for Black History Month, a moment she described as “incredible.”
