Shilo Sanders could remain on the team even after being let go.

Shiro Sanders might still end up on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ roster for the 2025 season, even after a dramatic incident on the field. Around 24 hours after being ejected during the last game against the Buffalo Bills for throwing a punch at tight end Zach Davidson, the team made the decision to part ways with their defensive back.

However, there are indications that it’s not the end for him. Reports suggest that the Buccaneers haven’t entirely shut the door on the possibility of Sanders joining their practice squad. The organization seemed to have appreciated Sanders, who is also the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and noted that the players expressed some regret regarding his actions during that game.

If he clears an exemption, Sanders could potentially sign onto the practice squad.

As a reminder, the Browns recently let go of Pro Bowl quarterbacks while trimming their roster in anticipation of the regular season.

Interestingly, Sanders, younger brother to Shedeur Sanders, came to the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Before the incident, he seemed to have a pretty solid shot at securing a place on the team.

He had moved to Colorado when his father took the head coaching position there, having initially started at South Carolina.

In his college career, Sanders played in 21 games at Colorado during the 2023-2024 seasons, racking up 137 tackles. He also managed one interception and a sack—with that sole interception being returned for a touchdown, which is definitely notable.

So it seems there’s still a glimmer of hope for Sanders in Tampa, albeit a bit uncertain.
