Dr. Tony Evans Returns to Preaching After a Year Away

Dr. Tony Evans has stepped back into the pulpit after stepping down from civil service a little over a year ago due to an unspecified issue. He had previously been the lead pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas. His recent address at The Family Leadership Summit in Iowa emphasized “Political Principles.”

During his speech, he shared a thought-provoking perspective: “God isn’t going to bypass the church to fix the White House. To truly represent Christ in today’s culture, we, as the church, must be active in all areas of society—from homes to schools.”

He went on to draw an analogy between movie trailers and life: “Think of how film previews showcase exciting moments—battle scenes, romance, and chases. They hook you, but the full movie might turn out differently. Our lives should be like those exciting clips, showcasing a preview of what’s to come.”

Evans mentioned that although he had made some poor decisions in the past, he had not committed any crimes. “A few years ago, I realized I wasn’t living up to the high standards set by God’s Word. So, I applied those same principles of repentance and restoration to myself that I would have applied to anyone else in my position.” He communicated this to his family and church elders, accepting a period of separation from his pastoral duties for healing.

It’s still uncertain if he has been officially restored to his pastoral role, despite his participation in the summit. Officials at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church haven’t confirmed his current ministry status yet.
