“Emily in Paris” Resumes Filming After Tragic Loss

Filming for “Emily in Paris” resumed just days after the show’s assistant director unexpectedly passed away. Lily Collins, who stars in the Netflix series, was spotted on set on August 23, only two days following Diego Borera’s sudden collapse and death during filming.

Collins, along with co-stars Eugenio Francescini, Ashley Park, and Paul Forman, appeared on set as they continued filming. Interestingly, Collins, the daughter of musician Phil Collins, was seen in beaded dresses, pink gloves, and a hat while filming on a boat.

Paramount TV Studios confirmed that Borera passed away while working on the fifth season. A spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss of a member of the “Emily in Paris” production team, saying, “During these incredibly difficult times, our hearts go out to the individual families and loved ones.”

Reports from various local outlets indicate that Borera collapsed while shooting a scene at the Venice hotel Danieli on August 21. Despite being treated by a medic on set, he could not be revived.

Trained in Rome, London, and New York, Borera was employed locally. The fifth season was set to start filming on August 15 and is scheduled to conclude on August 25, according to reports.

Collins celebrated the announcement of the new season’s release on Instagram, sharing her excitement about Emily’s Italian adventures, which will continue when the new season premieres on December 18.

Reflecting on her role, Collins previously discussed how her character, Emily, has developed over the seasons. She mentioned being pleased that Emily has become more vulnerable and complicated, emphasizing the character’s emotional journey throughout the series.
