Israeli Forces Respond to Houthi Attacks in Yemen

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) retaliated on Sunday against the Houthi regime in Yemen, targeting locations in the capital, Sanaa.

This action follows reports that the Houthis launched cluster munitions at Israeli territory on Friday. An investigation revealed that a ballistic missile attack included a warhead containing cluster bombs, resulting in strikes on residential areas in central Israel. Fortunately, a woman in one of the affected homes was found unharmed as she took shelter during the attack.

In response, the IDF targeted several sites in Sanaa.

In an official statement, the IDF noted:

Recently, the IDF struck military infrastructure associated with the Houthi regime in the Sanaa region. This included military locations near the Presidential Palace, as well as power plants in ASAR and Hizaz, which were utilized for military activities by the Houthis.

This retaliation stems from ongoing assaults by the Houthi regime on Israel and its civilians, which have included recent missile and UAV launches aimed at Israeli territory.

The Presidential Palace is situated within a military complex that serves as a base for Houthi operations.

Additionally, the power plants attacked play a critical role in military logistics, and targeting them is intended to disrupt power production and supply for military usage. Such actions further reveal the Houthis’ use of civilian infrastructure for military aims.

The Houthi regime, backed by Iran, continues to threaten Israel and its allies. They look to the maritime domain to facilitate terrorist activities that could affect global trade routes.

The IDF remains committed to addressing the persistent threats posed by the Houthi regime and ensuring the safety of Israeli civilians.

The last Israeli strikes on Sanaa occurred in December 2024, and current developments suggest an escalation in the targeting of Houthi leadership and facilities that serve dual military purposes.
