Trump Suggests How Cracker Barrel Can Turn Controversy Into Opportunity
The recent backlash surrounding Cracker Barrel’s revamped image has sparked significant debate, prompting the former president to share his thoughts on how the restaurant chain can reclaim its status as a “winner.”
Some critics have called attention to changes made decades ago, suggesting they’ve contributed to the company’s current struggles after it updated its logo and redesigned its interiors.
Trump expressed his views via social media, suggesting that Cracker Barrel could leverage their current dilemma for substantial benefits. He stated, “They got $1 billion worth of free advertising if they played the cards correctly.”
He recommended that the chain revert to its older logo and take customer feedback seriously, as they ultimately reflect the market’s sentiment. “It’s a tricky yet fantastic opportunity. A significant press conference today could help make Cracker Barrel a winner again. Remember, we recently made the United States the ‘hottest’ place in the world. Good luck!”
Following the logo’s unveiling, social media erupted, and the company’s stock dropped by 15% the next day. While shares have rebounded somewhat, they still saw a 10% decrease over the past month.
The pressure of rebranding largely falls on CEO Julie Felss Masino, who previously held a high position at Taco Bell. She remarked that the company is aiming for relevance with changes in its menu and identity.
Amid the uproar, Cracker Barrel publicly acknowledged the situation on Facebook. The company emphasized, “Recent days have shown us how much people care about Cracker Barrel. They also remind us that we must improve our representation and who we are.” Masino reinforced that the brand is committed to listening to customer feedback.
She mentioned, “The essence of Cracker Barrel hasn’t changed. The rocking chairs, the fireplace, the peg game—those vintage touches are still a part of our identity.”
