University Professor Cancels Class Over Swift-Kelce Engagement

A professor at the University of Tennessee has recently gained attention after canceling his class following the news of Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce.

Professor Matthew Pittman, affectionately dubbed the “favorite teacher,” was recorded instructing his students to leave class to “process” the significant news.

“Taylor and Travis are just engaged,” he stated in the video.

This spontaneous decision led to students quickly gathering their belongings, with one even running toward the door.

The clip went viral, racking up over 174,000 likes on Instagram within hours, as fans celebrated Pittman as a “worthy wedding invitation.” Many comments reflected admiration for the professor, with one remarking that he had instantly become their favorite.

It’s unclear if Pittman actually planned to end the class early or if he theatrically wrapped it up. However, he later clarified that the video was part of a planned educational exercise.

In a follow-up video, he acknowledged the importance of the engagement news, suggesting that the announcement would likely become “the number one shared post in social media history.” He added, “It’s going to be everywhere for a long time. This is going to be crazy.”
